Athens Pizza & Family Restaurant - seems like a winner

My wife had the Macedonian salad w/ fire roasted vegetables and chicken. Fairly priced ($10), nice size and was at least outside of the norm. Good choice.
I had the Spetses on pita. I expected it to be small but it wasn't. Flavor was good (roasted pepppers, sauce, feta and chicken)- for quick take-out, seems like a solid choice.

Beware of the parking lot - there isn't much of it. I'd recommend choosing delivery.

Meli – Melo in Greenwich - Decent but not great

They get great reviews - http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9B07EEDC1E3EF930A3575AC0A9609C8B63

From the Stamford Advocate:

Simply window-shopping on Greenwich Avenue can feel like a wallet-bruising experience, so sitting down at M li-M lo can instantly make you feel better about your bank account, whether you're a millionaire or a pauper. The cozy, lemon-yellow French nook is chic, yet affordable. M li-M lo, French for hodgepodge, specializes in crepes and nearly four menu pages are dominated by myriad selections of these paper-thin French pancakes. Savory buckwheat crepes (fewer carbs!) range from $7.50 to $15.50 and include a rich "Saumon Fume," or smoked salmon, crepe with chive sauce, lemon and daikon that looks and tastes like a Nova lox and cream cheese bagel platter done up French-style. Dessert crepe standouts include the "Sweet Tooth," a wheat crepe of fresh kiwi, strawberry, a scoop of chocolate sorbet and chocolate sauce with a sprig of mint. At $10.50, the Sweet Tooth is near the top of the dessert crepe price list, but for a steal, the simple yet classic butter and sugar crepe is an easy-to-part-with $3. The traditional croque-monsieur, grilled swiss on white bread with ham and b chamel sauce ($10) or croque madame, an extra 50 cents for a sunny side up egg on top, are delicious sandwich selections, but M li-M lo's "Le Parisien" ($6) is a singular experience. Gherkin pickles are the secret ingredient in this otherwise ordinary but surprisingly flavorful sandwich that includes ham, Dijon mustard and butter - best ordered on a baguette. M li-M lo also trades in fresh salads, sorbets, soups and fresh squeezed juices, all made on the premises

We took out a good assortment:
Split Pea Soup - not thick enough. Tasty but could've been better
Crab/Egg/Swiss Cheese Crepe - good but the crepe shell was a bit too overpowering
Nutella Crepe - very good!

My bill was over $40.The line was nearly out the door. The food was not as good as I wanted. I don't think that I'd try the restaurant again but you might want to give it a shot.

Salut!

Remo's: So-So - Pizza/Salads and Italian food. There are better options.

We took out Remo's this weekend.

I got the standard Margherita pizza (napolitano style) and my wife got the cheeseless Spinach Pie (also napolitano) and she added roasted eggplant. We also got the Chopped Salad.

a. My Margherita pizza was so-so. It was very similar to the pizza at Capriccio Café but the pizza at Capriccio was better. Strike 1.
b. My wife's pizza was good and a healthy choice. Kudo's
c. We love Chopped Salads and no one in Stamford has a Chopped Salad except for the Queen Fluff salad at http://www.bradfordsgrill.com/. We were excited until we got the salad and it was no chopped. Unbelievable. How do you call it a chopped salad and not chop the lettuce. Strike 2. The dressing was not as good as Planet Pizzas (http://www.planetpizza.com/) and the topics were sparse. Strike 3.

There seem to be better options in Stamford but I would like to eat there (although they had no high chairs so this could be hard) and I'd like to try their Italian food. Overall, I definitely would not recommend but I will give it another try so.....caveat emptor.

Napa & Company - The Pantry - reasonably priced, good selection but not great

I've now taken food out from the Pantry a few times.
My experiences have been so-so. I've bought chicken (grilled and baked) and they have been good but I've also had some items that should be good but weren't.

1. The Roasted Tomato Soup (which is served with a nice grilled cheese) tasted like watered down BBQ sauce. My wife usually loves Roasted Tomato Soup but she could barely stomach even a few bites. It should have been chunkier and less complex.
2. Creamed Spinach - again too complex. I'd rather eat the creamed spinach at Boston Market.

I'll still keep trying - since they do offer unique take-out in Stamford but I have much higher hopes.

We shall see.
I will neither recommend nor recommend against. Caveat emptor.

Mrs. Greens - great value for weeknight takeout

We often will stop at Mrs. Greens to bring in dinner for a weeknight.

Its cheap enough that its not much more expensive than cooking and feels much healthier than bringing in pizza or other fast food.
We like the burritos (chicken fajita and black bean) and the quesedillas. For about $5.99 each, they can be enough for a full meal - are usually made with brown rice or wheat wraps and many include vegetables. Add a salad by the bag or a side of veggies off the food bar and you have a healthy and inexpensive dinner.

Enjoy!

Lucky's in Stamford - good family restaurant, good value

www.ctnow.com/dining/111235,0,5862881.venue

Food is decent for brunch and lunch and fairly cheap.
They are very much like a generic diner except the atmosphere is worth the trip.

The chicken salad is good (not too much mayo which is good)
Soups are usually surprisingly better than you would expect - not sure if they make them in house or buy them from a bag but.....

Happy Pilgrim is a decent sandwich - nothing spectacular but not bad.

Overall, worth the trip and a decent value. I can typically walk out of there for $20 (or less) with tip included for brunch/lunch for two.

Enjoy!

La Paella Tapas Wine Bar & Restaurant - I had to try the lunch buffet - good lunch value - $10 Zagat rated buffet.

The NY Times wrote, "At La Paella in Norwalk (44 Main Street; 203-831-8636), the tapas (small plates) offer a tasty mix of Spanish dishes in a cheerful taverna setting. The lunch buffet is the steal of the year: endless tapas, salads, paella and other entrees and desserts -- all for $10.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9406EFDC1F31F932A05751C1A9609C8B63

We tried the buffet today and yes it was good. After tax, tip, etc., its more like $15 but there were 2 hot meat dishes, rice and beans, 3-4 different kinds of salads, and 2 very good pasta meals (one with seafood). Worth a try for lunch and probably worth a try for dinner. Overall, decent value for lunch.

I would receomend....http://www.lapaellatapaswinebarrestaurant.com/

Give it a try.....
